Before your child starts Kindergarten
Enrolment interview
Before your child starts, families are invited to meet with our Principal and Assistant Principal. This is an opportunity to share important information about your child, including:
- Medical conditions or allergies
- Learning or support needs
- Family circumstances that may impact your child’s transition to school
This helps us understand your child and ensure they feel safe and supported from the very beginning.
Kindergarten orientation and information sessions
Our orientation sessions give children the opportunity to:
- Meet their teachers and classmates
- Explore their new classrooms and playgrounds
- Become familiar with simple school routines
Parents and carers are also invited to information sessions where they can learn more about daily routines, uniforms, lunches and communication.
Getting ready at home
You can help your child feel ready for school by building independence and practising everyday routines at home. Try encouraging your child to:
- Pack and unpack their school bag
- Get dressed and practising personal hygiene
- Follow simple daily routines at home
What to expect in kindergarten
Learning and development
Kindergarten follows the NSW Early-Stage 1 curriculum, providing a strong foundation across literacy, numeracy, creative arts, health and physical education, science and technology, and human society and its environment.
Through a combination of play-based learning and explicit teaching, children develop essential skills, knowledge and independence in a supportive and engaging environment. Learning experiences are designed to encourage curiosity, participation and a positive approach to learning.
As children settle into school, familiar routines and clear expectations help them feel secure and ready to take part in the school day.
Daily routines
Children gradually become familiar with routines such as arriving at school, organising their belongings, snack and lunch breaks, lining up and moving safely around the school.
Teachers provide guidance and encouragement as children learn these routines and become more independent. Families can also support this transition by practising simple routines at home, helping children feel prepared for the structure of the school day.
